Rejjia is a transdisciplinary eclectic artist meaning she doesn't stick to just one specific area of art, like painting or illustration. Instead, she explores and blends ideas from various disciplines, such as installation, performance art, literature, etc to create something new and unique. She doesn't limit herself in her sources either, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of styles, methods and techniques, embracing, influences from traditional and contemporary cultural elements. Much of Rejjia's work can be found on the Complex Art Anthology, a website archive she created as part of her Hampshire College Division III Senior Thesis in 2020. The piece above, Remember Me, along with two others, was created in that anthology and featured in the Empathy To Solidarity: Activism Through The Media Arts exhibit at Triangle Studios in Bethesda, MD in 2021. Rejjia finds making art therapeutic and loves to share her new creations with others. Feel free to reach out to her about any possibilities to exhibit her work and provoke the minds of people around the world. She also offers custom orders and commissions.
Rejjia has been doing photography since high school. In 2011, she co-taught an after-school photography club with Amy Reid at her former elementary/ middle school, Waverly. She received a grant from Youth As Resources (YAR) in the same year for the program. She wanted youth to have the agency to decide and define how they saw themselves and their community. So she gave them a camera and space to cultivate their artistic voices. Through different photography styles such as portrait, landscape, street, architectural, documentary and event photography, Rejjia loves exploring themes of environment, identity, pride, family and much more. Her work has been exhibited in the Red Bull Amaphiko Festival in 2017 as well as in the Baltimore Youth Film Arts (BYFA) Program screenings from 2021 to 2023. In 2018, she worked as a Sales Photographer for Magic Memories at the National Aquarium. Also in 2023, she worked for the Afro American Newspaper in Baltimore as a Photojournalist. Give her candid viewpoint a shot, pun most definitely intended.
