Sister Stream Catcher is a dynamic community organizing project passionately dedicated to addressing and raising awareness of critical environmental issues in Baltimore, Maryland, with a special focus on the conservation of Hanlon Park Playground and the Wash Water Lake Stream.
Through daring art, striking advertising and meaningful events, we encourage local residents to reflect on their connection with their surroundings and inspire them to build a deeper connection with the environment. We empower them to take accountability for their actions by channeling their emotions into civic participation and creative expression.
By marrying a holistic approach to problem solving, we are able to embrace collaboration, encompassing expertise and resources from a range of partners and disciplines including art, environment, science, spirituality and social justice. In this way, we can genuinely create innovative solutions that tackle complex problems and advocate for real change for marginalized communities.
Sister Stream Catcher recognizes the needs and wants of the community which include more beauty, celebration, contribution, empathy, equity, harmony, healing, imagination, integrity, joy, learning, peace, play, pride, respect, safety, and wellness in Baltimore, and beyond.
We defend the right to a safe environment with clean resources, and calls for leadership that is competent, consistent and equitable in their pursuits to make Baltimore (and the world) a thriving place.
